Get to know us

Established in 1888, Friendship Church has faithfully served Hockley and the surrounding communities for generations. Rooted in Southern Baptist tradition (now known simply as Friendship Church), our congregation blends timeless values with fresh vision.

🕊 A Legacy of Faith & Resilience

• Since 1888, we’ve been a steadfast center of worship, fellowship, and service, helping shape lives and communities.

• In 2020, like many churches, we temporarily closed our doors during the pandemic—but not our hearts.

• By 2022, former members and faithful partners came together to reopen, inspiring a movement of restoration backed by sacrificial giving and spiritual renewal .

A New Name That Reflects Our Mission

We became Friendship Church to better convey who we are:

• A welcoming church that values diversity, unity, and genuine connection.

• A church proud of its vibrant music ministry, offering both rich hymns and dynamic contemporary worship.

• And a hub of church programs, from children’s ministry to adult education and missions, rooted in compassion and outreach .

Community Impact & Growth

• We’re rebuilding strong: our children’s church, childcare, Sunday Bible study, and youth ministry are back and growing weekly since reopening .

• As of early reopening, a $6,000 offering showed God was still moving in hearts—fueling new momentum and purpose .

• While we honor our SBC roots, we embrace all who seek faith, fellowship, or a place to serve.

Here’s What to Expect at Friendship Church
